Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions travellers ask most before booking a Kerala or South India trip with StepOut Tours.
How far ahead should I book a Kerala or South India tour package? Four to eight weeks is comfortable for most trips. For December–January, Onam and long weekends, book eight to twelve weeks ahead — houseboats and the better Munnar and Wayanad stays fill first. Last-minute trips are still possible; we simply have fewer stays to choose from.

How many days are enough for Munnar?
Two nights cover the main sights comfortably. Add a third night if you want to include Kolukkumalai at sunrise, the Marayoor valley or a trek.
What is the best time to visit Munnar?
September to March offers the best mix of clear views and cool weather. April and May are popular with families escaping summer heat, while June to August is wet but lush and budget-friendly.
How far is Munnar from Kochi airport?
About 110 km, which usually takes 3 to 3.5 hours by road depending on traffic and weather.
Is Eravikulam National Park open all year?
No. It normally closes during the Nilgiri tahr calving season in February and March. Dates are announced each year by the forest department, so check before planning.
When will Neelakurinji bloom next in Munnar?
The flowers bloom en masse roughly every twelve years. After the 2018 bloom, the next is expected around 2030.
Is Munnar good for a honeymoon?
Yes. Plantation resorts, private viewpoints, cool evenings and misty mornings make it one of Kerala's most popular honeymoon choices, and it pairs well with a houseboat night in Alleppey.
Can I visit Munnar during the monsoon?
You can, and the scenery is at its greenest. Expect heavy rain, occasional road restrictions and limited views on some days; keep your schedule flexible.
Should I visit Munnar or Thekkady first?
If you are flying into Kochi, Munnar first is the usual order: Kochi → Munnar → Thekkady → backwaters, which avoids backtracking.
